Southwest Region Recognition Awards
2012-13 Show Season
The Southwest Region’s Honors Committee is seeking deserving individuals for nominations for the following awards; “Spotlight Cat Fancier of the Year,” “Best Clerk,” and “SW CFA Lifetime Achievement Award”. All nominations will be confidential, final selections will be made by the SW Region Honors Committee and will be presented to the winners at the Regional Awards Banquet to be held June 8, 2013 in Palm Springs , CA. Nominees for these three awards should be Cat Fanciers that have proven themselves to be the “Best of the Best” we have in our Region. Requirements are below:
The Southwest Region’s Spotlight Cat Fancier of the Year (SCFY) award will recognize a Southwest Region exhibitor who has demonstrated CFA involvement by exhibiting regularly with a minimum of seven years in the Cat Fancy, by being involved in show production and promoting the region and its clubs. This person should exemplify good sportsmanship, be a team player and represent CFA well to new exhibitors and spectators. The SCFY should be someone who has given outstanding service to CFA in any capacity and who has enhanced the image of the Cat Fancy in a positive way in the eyes of the public and fellow exhibitors.
(Current or former CFA judges and/or current or former CFA Board Members are not eligible for this award.)
The Southwest Region’s Best Clerk award will recognize a Ring Clerk that not only excels in their duties but does so with a positive attitude. The Honors Committee will contact Southwest Region judges and Master Clerks for their nominations but would also like to solicit nominations from exhibitors since they also have direct contact with clerks during shows. We are looking for clerks who uphold the responsibilities set forth in Article XVIII in the CFA Show rules – i.e., someone who serves as an excellent executive assistant to their assigned judge, show diplomacy to exhibitors and spectators, and for demonstrate concern for exhibitors who are handicapped and work with exhibitors with special requests with patience and understanding. (Past receipients of this award are not eligible.)
The Southwest Region CFA Lifetime Achievement Award will recognize a Fancier or Fanciers who, through their selfless contributions to the Fancy in a variety of capacities, independent of their successes as a breeder or exhibitor, exemplify the true spirit of the Cat Fancy. Qualifications for this recognition includes a minimum of 10 years of service to the Cat Fancy in any combination of the following capacities: rescue work, legislation, mentoring, consistent donation to show production, consistent donation of show service (to include judging, clerking, master clerking, entry clerking) fundraising, or any other activities which nominating clubs feel that exemplify the true spirit of the cat fancy.
